Since 1969, our SMI subsidiary, listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, has been producing silver metal in its Imiter mine, east of Ouarzazate in Morocco.
We are one of the leading producers of primary silver in Africa and indeed the world. This ore is usually a by-product. As silver is the main product of the deposit at Imiter, this makes it unique in the world.

Precious and useful
Silver is an increasingly rare precious metal and has chemical and physical properties very similar to those of gold. It is a hard, oxidation-resistant metal that is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity.
Silver is commonly used in electrical applications, in soldering and in the health sector, owing to its antiseptic qualities, as well as in the manufacture of mirrors.
